What Does the Master of Science in Social Work Curriculum Include?

The online MSW Traditional Track consists of 60 total credit hours, consisting of:

  • 10 required foundation courses (30 total credits), including one field practicum and seminar
  • 7 required advanced courses (21 total credits), including two field practicums and seminars
  • 3 electives (9 total credits) that can be taken within a specific area of specialization

Students who have already earned a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree may be eligible for the MSW Advanced Standing Track. This 30-credit program consists of the following courses:

  • 7 required advanced courses (21 total credits), including two field practicums and seminars
  • 3 electives (9 total credits) that can be taken within a specific area of specialization

Fieldwork is a critical component of Bradley’s MSW program, allowing you to apply classroom learning to real-world scenarios. You can complete your field placements locally, which gives you the opportunity to positively impact your community even before earning your degree.

Students are required to compete 900 field practicum hours prior to graduation. Those in the Advanced Standing Track will receive credit for hours completed at the BSW level.
