Listen as Briget Welker, Associate Professor of Nursing at Bradley University describes the preceptor expectations and relationship for the online nursing programs.

Transcript

>>BRIDGET WELKER: A preceptor is a family nurse practitioner, or a lot of the students have gone with doctors, and they are the ones that you will do all your clinical hours with. In the beginning, you usually just observe, probably for about the first couple of days, and then after that, you start taking on patients. And the preceptors are always there to guide you. They will answer questions for you.

A good preceptor will ask you to do different diagnoses and actually explain why you came up with the diagnosis that you chose and what treatment you would offer. Preceptors will make or break the students.

Everything’s been positive. The preceptors so far have been absolutely wonderful.
